Instagram Influencer Program

The Instagram Influencer program was designed for Influencers who post DIY content on their feed, enabling them to grow their following by posting their content on Hometalk.com. In exchange for posting 2 "Quality Score 2" project tutorials on Hometalk in one calendar month, we offer a number of incentives including a monthly gift valuing at $40-50, features in our daily email newsletter, and features in our Instagram story and feed.

Note: The Instagram Influencer Program is currently open only to Influencers who are not part of the Blogger Traffic Program

As we qualify influencers for the program, we look at the following criteria:

  1. Their Instagram content is DIY related and suitable for the Hometalk community

  2. Passion for DIY tutorials

  3. Beautiful quality images

What is a quality post?

Our goal at Hometalk is to connect people with ideas that will inspire them to create the home they love. The best way to engage this audience is by sharing the highest quality content with them. On our end, a high quality post is marked as "quality score 2."

To be considered QS2, a post must fit the following criteria:

  1. Be within the realm of home and garden (no recipes or fashion)

  2. Be a step-by-step DIY tutorial (no house tours or round-up posts)

  3. Have at least 180 words and 4 photos

  4. Include a before photo and a completed after photo

  5. Include a full description of what you accomplished in your post

  6. Include enough instruction so that the reader can understand what you did and generally replicate your project.

Here’s a great example of a quality, engaging Hometalk post by Amanda of Dwelling In Happiness.

For more on quality scoring, check out our scoring chart here.

Be sure to include "featurable" links here so that you don't delay your direct feature in the email.

A featurable link must:

  1. be a home and garden tutorial (not recipes or fashion)

  2. have a before photo/photo of materials

  3. be seasonally appropriate

  4. be written in English

Frequently asked questions

When should you expect to get featured and how often?

You can be featured as frequently as once a month (assuming you post 3 projects every 30 days). You are added to the queue as soon as your 3rd post qualifies, and typically you are featured within the following week. This timeline depends on the length of the queue at the time, though, so it can take up to 2 weeks to receive your feature.

How much traffic should I expect?

That will vary from blogger to blogger. We typically see anywhere from 3-12k views on any given post!

How will I know if my Hometalk post qualifies?

You can see the status of all of your posts on the blogger dashboard! To find your dashboard, just hover over your profile photo and click "my dashboard." Then make sure you are on the "blogger" tab. If you scroll to the bottom, you'll see if your post qualifies, and if not, why. If you decide to fix the issue, make sure to click "update" once you're finished so our content team can review and rescore it! Note: Eligible posts, that have not already been used to qualify you for a feature, will expire after 1 year.

How will I know if I was featured?

We have several emails that will notify you regarding your feature- one a few days before (so that you can prepare) and one the day of! Make sure you are signed up to receive those emails by checking the box marked "Blogger Traffic Program Emails" in your email settings here.

My blog is in a foreign language. Do I qualify for the Hometalk Traffic Program?

Currently, we are only featuring bloggers who’s blogs are in the English language. We will keep you updated about future plans to expand the program.

I have two Hometalk profiles with separate blogs. Can I participate in the traffic program with both domains?

While we love the enthusiasm, bloggers can only participate in the traffic program with one domain.

If I am in the Blogger Traffic Program, do I HAVE to participate in the Affiliate rev-share program?

No you do not. If you do not want to participate in the Affiliate rev-share program, then please opt-out HERE.
