Optimize Your Profile: Best Practices
Updated: Sep 18, 2019
Set your Hometalk profile up in a way that maximizes your blog's exposure! Here are our top 5 ways to optimize your profile:
Make your name = your blog name. This is the first thing people see when they are reading your posts or your answers in the forum. Make them associate that awesome content with your blog right off the bat! Additional recommendation: include your first name and then right your blog name, example: Abigail | Hometalk
Make your profile page (URL) = your blog name. This is will give you a cleaner, more professional-looking URL, making it easier to link back to your profile. Additionally: if your blog name is already in use, choose something that's closely related to keep the branding consistent
Keep your 3 blog links "feature ready." We do our best to give you a heads up before we schedule your feature, but sometimes it doesn't work out. Keep those 3 links optimized and ready to go, and you have nothing to worry about!
On your dashboard: add your blog name! It's not enough to only add your link, you also need to write in your blog name. This lets our readers know which blogger created the project that's a direct feature in the email!
Make sure you are subscribed to the Blogger Traffic Program emails! We have special emails for bloggers only, like letting you know your feature is coming or that a post doesn't qualify. Make sure you are subscribed by going to hometalk.com/my-account/notifications and checking the box "Blogger Traffic Program Emails"
